Understanding hair
What is better u have more of  it in right place than wrong place, yes hair is luxury for most of men and women all over the world, almost 75% of Hair loss people have tried it one time or other, but secret for growing hair is not snake oil, raw egg shampoo or crushing flowers on head or eating expensive herbal chavanaprash with gold, silver and coal in it.

Regrowing hair that has been lost is a dream coming fantasy and never-ending hope for both men and women, so lets come back to reality, so once hair begins to fall, for many of a variety of reasons, it is very difficult to grow it back.

so lets look at the 'root' of the problem, so how Does Hair Grow?
Human hair grows everywhere on the body except for the soles of the feet and the palms of the hands, the lips, and the eyelids, apart from eyelashes. Like skin, hair is made of multi-layered, flat cells with overlying keratin (a protein), whose rope-like filaments provide structure and strength to the hair shaft.

In a person, there are approximately 5 million hair follicles cover the surface of the body at any given time. Of that total, about 100,000 to 150,000 strands are growing on the head. All those millions of hair follicles are developed and in place before a person is born. Biologically, it is impossible to grow more hair after birth, unless you have grizzly allergy reaction, so in reality all the hair you are ever going to have is already there when you arrive in this world.
Hair follows a specific growth cycle with three distinct and concurrent phases: anagen, catagen, and telogen phases. Each phase has specific characteristics that determine the length of the hair.

At any given time, each hair on your body is in one of three phases— growing(anagen), resting (catagen or dormant), or shedding(telogen and final). All three phases occur simultaneously; one strand of hair may be in the anagen phase, while another is in the telogen phase.

The first phase called Anagen (growth) phase/Stage can last anywhere from two to six years. During this phase, hair grows an average of about half an inch per month, or six inches per year, but that is only an average and it varies person to person.

Over the entire growth phase, the hair can reach a length of approximately three feet, about the middle of the back for most women (its called tresses..wow..), before it stops growing and proceeds to the catagen (resting) phase. Naturally, there are variations in length potential, and women with six feet long hair(sanyasi style), but there are also women who can’t grow hair much past their shoulders (natural bob cut style). The reason for these variations is that the length of hair is genetically predetermined (always say thanks to mom & dad for good genetics).

In the catagen (resting) phase, about two to six years of growth, the hair cells stop reproducing and the growth process is over. For about two to six weeks, the hair just lies around taking it easy while the root slowly moves up to the skin’s surface.

The telogen (final) phase is short-lived. At this point the hair root has moved almost to the surface of the skin(near the opening of the oil gland), where it is completely separated from the base of the follicle.Entering its last phase of life, the hair is ready to literally jump ship and shed.

In a matter of weeks the anagen (growth) stage will begin again at the base of the hair follicle. When the new hair sprouts to the surface, it simply pushes the old hair out of its way. So all that hair collecting on your brush, is usually hair that has passed from the growth phase to the final period of shedding.

At any given time, approximately 88% of hair is in the anagen phase, 1% in the catagen phase, and 11% in the telogen phase. Thankfully, hair is predominantly in the growing phase which explains why we end up having more hair than less, despite the strands we lose daily.

Why Does Hair Stop Growing?
Alopecia is the technical name for hair loss, but that’s just the beginning of the story. There are so many factors that affect hair growth.

the most typical cause of hair loss is something called male pattern baldness caused by certain androgens (male hormones) destroying the hair follicle. Hair loss is not merely an aesthetic issue, it can also be a health issue. This is because, for both male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness, hormones are the primary cause of hair loss.

Before you even begin to think about what products to use for hair growth, you must know the source of your hair loss.

Some hair-care companies want you to believe that reduced or impeded blood flow is the primary factor affecting hair growth. Improve the blood flow, they say, and you should be able to improve hair growth, but if wishes were horses, i would have ordered a dozen, but it doesn’t work that way in reality.

while there are many off-the-self generic and magical remedies for reducing hair loss and baldness, which i will/may not cover here. so please visit a dermatologist for proper and effective cure.
