Meanwhile, Seaplane meant for Kerala landed in Delhi, after pilot got confused delhi airport with kerala backwaters. pilot claimed that he mistook waterfilled airport and floating jetties in delhi as kerala backwaters.
Meanwhile,Delhi CM, got inspiration from this small matter, added another innovative idea to its tourism product by providing hassle-free last-mile connectivity, suggested that delhi airport should be used like waterdrome. From sources, The water-dromes will have floating jetties and houseboats (which will be airlifted from srinagar lake) apart from facilities to ensure security. Various houseboats will be used as terminals for landing as well as takeoff sites. To make the experience more comfortable for tourists, these sites will have lounges with free aloo parantha and channa batura thrown in good measure.
How will it work? Well, if a tourist wants to visit one of the destinations, like india gate or red fort, he/she can take a plane like radio taxi from their house if its located in delhi,or outstation tourists can take to the nearest airport and then the seaplane will ensure that he/she reaches his/her visit destination in a short time. Officials say that this project can help cut down travel time from six hours to 20 minutes. It will also be a unique experience for the tourists.
Not entirely unpredictable, the seaplane service has run into controversy, with fishermen from yamuna nalla backed by politicians protesting against it, their contention is that the livelihood of locals will be hit. Fishermen fear the seaplanes will affect inland fishing and a clutch of environmentalists are backing them. On the first day of the service, hundreds of fishermen blocked the landing area with their boats to protest against the seaplane service.
Meanwhile, houses came crashing down in cinematic fashion after a sea plane landed and went into a large farm house mistaking it for a hangar.
In Mumbai, BMC has installed in emergency rafts near railway stations in case someone wants to reach early.
